The Golden Gate Bridge from the North – Part 2

The Golden Gate Bridge owes its name to the strait it crosses, where the San Francisco Bay meets the Pacific. Prospectors arrived here during the gold rush days and helped to finance the city. The new gold rush draws crowds to the iconic bridge itself. Replacing pans with cameras and shovels with tripods, we now seek our fortune in fantastic images instead of gold and the Golden Gate Bridge always delivers.

North Views of Golden Gate Bridge – Part 1

The Golden Gate Bridge is the most famous and most recognized icon of San Francisco. Writing a photographer’s guide to the most photographed landmark in the nation is daunting. I decided to split my guide into several parts to cover all the angles.

Buena Vista Park and Haight-Ashbury District

The Haight-Ashbury District is not trying to hide its hippie past. Water pipe stores, cannabis stores, and Bob Marley Murals unmistakably are remnants of a past long gone. Boutique stores and restaurants catering to tourists are slowly taking over. The colorful murals and shops are very photogenic nonetheless and the vivid Victorian villas will charm any visitor. The crowd is a colorful mix of tourists, locals, and weed junkies with bloodshot eyes.The Haight-Ashbury District is not trying to hide its hippie past.
